Nations Social Services exists to give people
hope against poverty. We
recognize that poverty can be a physical, mental or a spiritual
condition, and we give people hope by first meeting their
needs, then training them to become self-sufficient and contribute
to society.
Giving Help, Giving Tools and Giving Hope.
Here's how:
Food
Bank Our food bank team provides
food baskets to needy families on a weekly basis, and distributes
bread to another food bank and other organizations. Last year
we directly gave food to over 890 families.
The Renewal
Project TRP rebuilds computers and gives them to
people who otherwise wouldn't have access to the technology at home.
We also teach basic computer training classes and team with
Tyler Square and Church For All Nations to find qualified computer
recipients.
Health
Team The NSS Health Team exists to
encourage and help people take control of their own health.
This program sponsors speakers on health related topics, holds CPR
training sessions, and teams with healthcare providers and
educators in the community to hold the "Wellness Weekend," a free
comunity health fair each April.
Celebrate
Recovery The purpose of Celebrate
Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our
lives through the "Eight Recovery Principles" recognizing the
delivering power of God to break addictions and co-dependant
behavior. This internationally acclaimed 12-step program is offered
in affiliation with Saddleback Church.
Hoopfest
The annual 3-on-3 Hoopfest basketball tournament
provides an excellent opportunity to build community. Featuring
athletes, including NBA Legend Players, and local performing
artists, this event draws over 1000 people each year as
about 100 teams compete. Hoopfest brings
together invaluable community resources like a medical van,
free school supplies, a bonemarrow and blood drive, and positive,
life-changing messages to young people and their
families.
 Christmas For All
Nations CFAN blesses children and low income
families each winter by providing gifts for children to 18
years old, Christmas dinner to qualified families, and connections
to other community resources.
